Holding the Business
Across Generations
Heritor works with family businesses on governance, continuity, and the quiet leadership that comes from holding two seats at the same table.
Our Engagements
Three Ways We Work Together
Each engagement is shaped to the family and the moment. We do not work from a fixed formula. The three forms below describe the types of work we hold.
Governance Architecture Engagement
A senior advisory engagement that produces a written reading of the governance architecture of a family business — the family council, the shareholder forum, the board, and the operating leadership. Covers the rhythm of meetings, the conversations each forum is shaped to hold, and the documents that support each forum.
- Interviews across family and senior management
- Written governance architecture document
- Family workshop to consider the picture together
Continuity Conversation Series
A six-session facilitated conversation series for a family that wants to talk carefully about the continuity of the business across generations. The advisor designs and facilitates each conversation, holding the topics the family has chosen in scoping. Output includes a written record of each session and a reading of the themes that surfaced.
- Six facilitated family conversations
- Written record of each session (family agreement)
- Thematic reading across the series
Family-Manager Conversation Coaching
A focused six-session series of one-to-one conversations for a family member who is also a senior manager in the business — typically a generation-two leader holding both a family identity and an operating role. Covers language choices that work in different rooms and the practice of holding two seats at the same table.
- Six individual one-to-one sessions
- Role-language and dual-seat navigation
- Ongoing advisory between sessions
Why Heritor
What Families Say Matters
We work on the things that sit beneath the surface of most family business conversations — the structure of authority, the pace of succession, the language of ownership.
Governance Clarity
We help families see the shape of how decisions are made and how that shape could serve the business better over time.
Written Records
Our engagements produce documents the family keeps — not slide decks that fade, but written records that hold the work of the conversation.
Advisor Continuity
The same advisor who begins an engagement carries it through. No handoffs, no junior substitution. The relationship holds.
Neutral Ground
We hold the room without taking sides. Families are able to speak more freely when an advisor has no stake in the outcome.
Paced Work
We do not rush. The pace of each engagement is set by the family. Complex family business questions rarely benefit from speed.
Strict Discretion
Everything discussed in our sessions stays within the engagement. We do not discuss clients with other clients or in any external setting.
Take the First Step
Would a conversation be worthwhile?
Most families find that naming the question — even before they are ready to act — is useful in itself. An initial conversation with Heritor carries no obligation and no agenda beyond listening carefully.
Questions
Frequently Asked
What kind of families does Heritor typically work with?
We work with owner-managed and family-controlled businesses across Thailand — typically businesses where the founding generation and a second generation are both active. Size varies considerably. What matters is that the family wants to think carefully about how the business is held and led.
Is Heritor a legal or financial advisory firm?
No. Heritor is a governance and continuity advisory practice. We do not provide legal counsel, financial advice, or estate planning. Our work sits in the space between those disciplines — the conversations that shape how families make decisions and hold their businesses well over time. We are glad to work alongside lawyers and advisors the family already trusts.
How do engagements typically begin?
We begin with a scoping conversation — usually one or two meetings — to understand the family's situation and what they are hoping to achieve. That conversation is not billed. At the end of scoping we describe what an engagement might look like and the family decides whether to proceed.
How long does a Governance Architecture Engagement take?
Typically four to eight weeks from scoping to workshop, depending on the number of interviews and the family's availability. We do not compress the interview process. Each person interviewed should feel they have been heard carefully, not processed quickly.
What if our family is in the middle of a disagreement?
A scoping conversation is still worthwhile. Families do not need to be in agreement before they begin. In fact, the structure of an advisory engagement can sometimes help a family hold a disagreement without it becoming a rupture. We can discuss candidly whether the timing is right.
Are sessions conducted in English or Thai?
We work in English. For families where members prefer Thai, we can discuss arrangements — though written outputs are produced in English. We are glad to speak to this in a scoping conversation.
